What the tool can and cannot keep
A background music remover separates or reduces music in a mixed audio or video file. What remains depends on the source, the overlap between sounds, and the result you select.
Removing music without muting dialogue is possible on some mixes, but results vary. Background singing, heavy reverb, low-bitrate audio, and speech that overlaps with music can leave residue or affect the voice. Preview a short section before processing the full file.

Common uses
Make speech easier to hear — Try an available dialogue or main-voice result for interviews, lessons, podcasts, and commentary clips with music under the speaker.
Prepare a video for a new soundtrack — Reduce the existing music before adding a track you have permission to use. Keeping sound effects requires the dedicated dialogue-and-effects result.
Create a practice instrumental — When the instrumental result is available, preview a song with the main vocal reduced. Backing vocals and instruments may also change.
Check a difficult mix before committing — Use the short preview to hear how overlap, reverb, background vocals, and sound effects respond.

Your media is processed in your browser and is not sent to us for processing. The app still connects to load site and model files. Privacy-minimized analytics may run only as described in our Privacy Policy and consent settings.
Media data and model files are different
Temporary media data is designed to be removed when you finish, cancel, or reset. A browser or device crash may delay cleanup until the app runs again. Model files may remain in your browser storage until you delete them, the app replaces them, or your browser clears them.
Local processing can reduce exposure from sending media to a processing service, but it does not make a shared, compromised, or managed device safe for confidential material.

Questions about removing background music
Can I remove background music without removing dialogue?
Sometimes. A supported dialogue result can reduce music while keeping spoken words, but overlap, background singing, reverb, and low-quality audio can affect the voice or leave music behind. Preview a 15–30 second section before processing the full file.
Can the tool keep sound effects and ambience?
Only a dedicated dialogue-and-effects result is designed to do that. If that result is not available, the control stays disabled. We do not substitute a voice-only result because it may remove effects or bring music back.
What is the difference between dialogue, vocals, and instrumental audio?
Dialogue means spoken words. Vocals usually mean singing or a main voice in a music mix. Instrumental audio is the music left after the main vocal is reduced. A result designed for songs does not automatically preserve dialogue and sound effects in video.

Which audio and video formats are supported?
At launch, the tool accepts MP3 and standard PCM WAV files up to 100 MB, plus MP4 files with H.264 video and AAC audio up to 500 MB. Files must be 10 minutes or shorter. Processing requires a recent desktop version of Chrome or Edge on Windows or macOS.
Why can music or artifacts remain in the result?
Speech, music, singing, reverb, and sound effects often overlap in the same recording. Separation can leave part of the music, remove wanted sound, or add audible artifacts. Low-bitrate audio and complex mixes are usually harder.
Can I preview the result before exporting?
Yes, when an approved result is available for your file and browser. Process a 15–30 second section, compare the original and result at the same timestamp, then decide whether to process the full file.
Does it work on mobile browsers?
Mobile processing is not supported at launch. You can view the page and requirements on mobile, but processing requires a supported desktop version of Chrome or Edge on Windows or macOS.
Is the result cleared for commercial use?
No. Processing does not clear copyright, recording, performance, image, trademark, privacy, or other rights. You are responsible for having the rights needed for your media and how you use the result.
